20 uses for leftover fruit and vegetable peels
The skins of fruit and vegetables are full of flavor and vitamins — and they’ve got a lot to give.
The Chanel sisters, Sable, left, and Coco, right, strike a pose during their walk about the office today. Sable is an Easter Egger and Coco is a Cuckoo Maran, and each of them are about a week old. :)
They are so cute. I know I may not have one now or probably not have one in the near future, but I think it will be inevitable that I would have some chickens in my lifetime.

Now, on to catch up on what has been going on. Last growing season wasn’t that great.
Mid way through growing the raspberries, there was an uptick in maggots and or ants, so we just were put off of it the whole year.
Then every time we grew a nice fruit like Watermelon, something got into it. It was either squirrels or rats, we weren’t too sure. My dad was looking into peppermint oil to get rid of the rat problem though, but we haven’t found a good seller or make that we were all decided on.
The weed I mentioned previously, it is still giving me a pain. It is all over the yard and the neighboring yards.
And I got in to some frozen peaches last month and was shocked to find a frozen maggot in it… I was so grossed out
I also bought a few homesteadingish books. Like Get Your Pitchfork on! When There is No Doctor, The Encyclopedia of Country Living, both Country Wisdom and Know-How and Survival Wisdom and Know-How, and a book on basic butchering.
So far I have read the first and I am starting on the second.
But anywho, hopefully this growing season will be better than last.
Oh goodness! Its been too long. I was mostly focusing on personal health issues (including anxiety and breathing) and I was simply not motivated.
Then when I switched computers, I was too lazy to sign in fresh. Then I completely forgot the login email.
Had to go through with contacting tumblr about it to get them to tell me the log in email, which was a long process and I didn’t have enough backup credentials so I found the old email on an old desktop that was saved. And luckily one of the passwords I typed in were right, so yay!
geez louise. I haven’t posted in ages, and I am truly sorry for that.
A while back my laptop messed up and I had to reboot it completely and didn’t know my password for this, and didn’t make an effort to find out what it was. Plus, I had a few health problems I was worrying about to even focus on this blog.. :\
I am so sorry. I have a few photos to show since my last post. I didn’t go out too much, there were just so many mosquitoes out that I didn’t even bother.
I’ll post them, hopefully later.
